Taking stock of SAARCs progress Meetings begin for the ministers inter summit session 5 February, 2011 - Measures adopted by all eight countries to promote regional tourism were one of the subjects discussed by south Asian association of regional corporation (SAARC) directors when they met today at the convention center in Thimphu. The report on tourism is an outcome of the working group meeting in Kathmandu last month. The 40th meeting of the programming committee, is the first preceding meeting for the inter-summit session of council of ministers, which begins on February 8. Turbulence hits domestic air services again 5 February, 2011 - The governments effort to launch domestic air services by April, is once again experiencing turbulence. In what looks like a replay of the first domestic air services tender, the government is once again engaged in dialogue with the winning companies, Kuensel has learned. Tashi Air, one of the two companies awarded the domestic air services contract, has approached the government raising concerns on the inclusion of national airline, Drukair, in domestic operations.The government selected both Tashi Air and Drukair to operate domestic air operations in December. This move surprised observers, as the tender document or RFP (request for proposals), did not mention such an outcome.But while such an outcome was not mentioned in the RFP, Tashi Air had proposed to operate international air services to subsidize its domestic operations. The other option offered was to operate only domestic operations but with government incentives...

Nepali PM KhanalIssuing a press statement, DNC president Rongthong Kunley Dorji said, On behalf of the Druk National Congress, I extend my hearty felicitation and best wishes to Your Excellency on being elected as Prime Minister of Nepal, The party also said it always remains indebted to the Government of Nepal and Nepalis for continued support towards the establishment of inclusive democracy in Bhutan. DNC expressed its hope that under Khanals leadership there would be a re-beginning of bilateral talks between Nepal and Bhutan to resolve the protracted refugee issue.
