Petrol price increases
Jan 19, 2011 The price of petrol has increased by Nu 2.22. A litre of petrol will now cost Nu. 53.86. The price hike came into effect yesterday. This is the second hike in just one month. In December the price of petrol increased by about Nu. 3.5 a litre. [read more]
Tshogpa elections receives lukewarm response
Jan 19, 2011 Four constituencies have no candidates for Tshogpa election. With just two days left for the Thromdey elections, four constituencies in the three Thromdeys of Thimphu, Phuentsholing and Gelephu have failed to field a single candidate for the Tshogpas post. Ara confiscated
Jan 19, 2011 Police in Gelephu have confiscated 49 bottles of locally brewed alcohol known as ara, 15 cartoons of yeasts and 65 kilo! grams of Bangchhang, locally brewed beer, on Sunday. [read more]
Petrol price to skyrocket
Jan 17, 2011 The price of petrol is expected to increase by more than Nu.2 per litre. The hike will come into effect from tomorrow according to the Department of Trade. This is the second hike in a month and the fourth within a year. [read more]

Man arrested for selling fake rhino horn
Jan 17, 2011 The Thimphu police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Wangduephodrang on suspicion of selling fake rhino horns. The suspect and an accomplice were arrested while on their way to a potential customers house in Changjiji on January 14. [read more]
Passengers stranded
Jan 17, 2011 Scores of passengers were stranded overnight at Kikila by the snowfall yesterday. The snowfall caused a major roadblock which could be cleared only this a! fternoon . It was only after the block was cleared that the passengers managed to proceed towards Bumthang. [read more]
Strike closes Phuentsholing border gate
