Jan 26, 2011 The number of elephants in the Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary has been decreasing steadily. The elephants move in herds their numbers varying from five to 30. They can be sighted almost any day, moving gracefully through the thick undergrowth. But according to wildlife officials, they can rarely spot a tusker among the herd. They are fast disappearing. Jan 24, 2011 The Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC! ) is pla nning not to give weight to academic performance in the Bhutan Civil Service Common Examination. Some colleges tend to give high marks while others are strict. The rating also differs from one academic discipline to another. Jan 24, 2011 The judiciary saw a record 7,771 matrimonial cases in 2010, an increase of 34.06 percent over the previous year. Cases related to financial matters came second at 1,842 cases. [read more]

14 yak calves killed in fire
Four survive with serious burns
One of the yak calves is treated for burns
27 January, 2011 Fourteen yak calves were burnt to death in a shed fire in Ura, Bumthang, on Monday evening.
Of the calves that were killed, all under a year old, 10 were females and four males, enough to start a new herd, according to the officiating gup of Ura, Khando Tshering. There were 18 calves tied in the shed but four managed to escape, he said. [read more]
