Bhutan to recruit doctors from Bangladesh
Latest 11 January, 2011 - Bhutan and Bangladesh today signed a memorandum of understanding to recruit doctors from Bangladesh.
The MoU was signed by foreign secretary Daw Penjo and secretary for health and family welfare, Md. Humayun Kabir. The parties have expressed their wish to strengthen and formalize the existing relationship on mutual interests and benefits in the areas of recruitment of various categories of Specialists Medical Officers and retired doctors (Specialists and GDMOs) from Bangladesh to meet the human resource requirement of the Bhutanese health ministry till Bhutan is in a position to meet the human Resources gap in this respect, stated the MoU.The two countries also signed a MoU to encourage and promote cooperation in the field of literature, music, visual and performing arts, crafts and other cultural activities, education and research, science and technology, media, tourism, sports and games. A Bhutanese delegation led by the Prime Minister Jigmi Y Thinley is in Dhaka, Bangladesh on a four-day visit. This afternoon, the Lyonchhoen called on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina at her office and then the President of Bangladesh, Md. Zillur Rahman at Bangabhaban.
